At the Wolziger See, a new place made of wood is taking shape – in the middle of the Dahme-Heideseen nature park. Close to Berlin, embedded in mature woodland.
The project in context
At the Wolziger See, architecture should not be louder than the landscape. We are developing a place made of wood that fits into the mature setting – precisely planned, conceived for the long term. A project that suits its surroundings and opens up new prospects for the region.
Architektur &
Nutzung
01Architecture
Five new holiday homes of 56 m² each form the core of the first phase. The units are planned as Holz Homes and combine a clear, compact floor plan with architecture that fits into the mature stand of trees.
02Prefabrication
The holiday homes are built as prefabricated timber structures. This secures build quality early on and makes realisation on the site easier to plan. Three available 50 m² modules complete the first phase.
03Use
Use follows the existing planning law: the five holiday homes are intended for year-round short-term rental; the three weekend houses are located on the sub-area approved for them. Two further approved plots are held in reserve for now.
Location & context
The site lies around 60 kilometres south-east of Berlin, on the Wolziger See in the Dahme-Heideseen nature park. The location combines proximity to the Berlin market with a landscape whose protected status limits further densification. The project is connected to Berlin by waterway and can be reached from the capital in about an hour.
